Waterfront Dining in Florida: Where to Eat With the Boats Going By
In Florida, waterfront is both a view and a cuisine. Ninety-one dining listings in our guide carry the waterfront tag, and they are not interchangeable - some are dock bars where you keep your flip-flops on, and some are white-tablecloth rooms where you should not. Here is a spread by region, with what each one is actually known for.
Tampa Bay and Pinellas
- Frenchy's Salt Water Café — Clearwater Beach (419 Poinsettia Ave) - the classic grouper sandwich, smoked fish spread and cold beer, with dock access. Seafood at moderate prices.
- Marina Cantina (25 Causeway Blvd #101, Clearwater Beach) - waterfront Mexican at the Clearwater Beach Marina: ceviche, churros and margaritas with the Intracoastal sliding by.
- Caddy's Madeira Beach (14080 Gulf Blvd) - an upstairs deck built for sunsets, live two-man bands, and key lime pie that gets its own fan club.
- Caddy's on the Beach (9000 W Gulf Blvd, Treasure Island) - toes-in-the-sand dining with mahi tacos and strong Pain Killers.
- The Getaway (13090 Gandy Blvd N, St. Petersburg) - a thatched-hut tiki compound on the water with sandy patches between the tables and boats drifting past. Reserve for weekends.
- Salt Rock Tavern (19325 Gulf Blvd, Indian Shores) - seafood and steaks, a knockout sangria, warm sourdough and a tiki bar happy hour, with big windows and a deck for the sunset.
Southwest Florida
- Doc Ford's Rum Bar & Grille (708 Fisherman's Wharf, Fort Myers Beach) - a sprawling dockside complex where sunset seating is the whole event. Reviewers book ahead for the view and stay for the rum cocktails.
- The Mucky Duck (11546 Andy Rosse Ln, Captiva) - a British-style pub on Andy Rosse Lane beloved for shrimp bisque, coconut shrimp and the Mucky Duck Pub Burger.
- The Waterfront Restaurant (111 S Bay Blvd, Anna Maria) - a City Pier landmark serving since 1967, with a screened porch over the bay and blackened grouper sandwiches.
- Snook Inn (1215 Bald Eagle Dr, Marco Island) - a big, fun Marco waterfront bar with indoor and outdoor seats and live music seven days a week.
- The Turtle Club (9225 Gulf Shore Dr, Naples) - Gulf-front and upscale-casual, with a raw bar, a sunset-facing deck and a Frose that seals the deal.

The Panhandle
- Boshamps Seafood & Oyster House (414 Harbor Blvd, Destin) - a harbor-side institution with a sandy kids' corner and boats out back while you wait. Go early.
- The Grand Marlin (400 Pensacola Beach Blvd) - a polished oyster bar and steakhouse with sunset-facing windows. Ask for a table facing the water, and book it.
- Flounder's Chowder House (800 Quietwater Beach Rd, Pensacola Beach) - a tropical covered porch with beach access right out back and a line that moves fast.
- The Fish House (600 S Barracks St, Pensacola) - on Seville Harbor with dock views and boats bobbing outside; the outdoor tables catch the bridge sunset.

The Keys and the Space Coast

- Burdines Waterfront (1200 Ocean View Ave, Marathon) - climb the stairs above the bait shop for breezy deck tables. The fried key lime pie is why people come back.
- Hogfish Bar & Grill (6810 Front St, Stock Island) - a tiki-shaded dock bar where manatees surface beside the tables and the hogfish tacos are the whole point.
- Grills Seafood Deck & Tiki Bar (500 Glen Cheek Dr, Cape Canaveral) - every seat gets water views, and the sport here is watching the cruise ships come and go.
- Yellow Dog Cafe (905 US-1, Malabar) - a riverfront fine-dining room where reservations are essential and the views do a lot of the work.
Getting a waterfront table right
- Time it to sunset. Nearly every place on this list names sunset as the reason to be there, so check the sunset time and aim to sit 45 minutes before it.
- Boat access is real here. Marker 88 in Islamorada keeps slips for guests who arrive by water.
- Every restaurant has a full card in My FL Guide with its address, cuisine, price range, parking and directions.
Sort the Dining tab by distance on the day, filter for waterfront, and you can pick the room to match the evening you actually want.
